EWART IN THE SOUP. Crawford ari the Entire Democratic County Ticket Elected ty Large Majorities. Sprinkle, Republican, Elected by alSmall Majority. MR. EWART HAS TAKEN A TRIP UP SALT RIVER. The Democrats of Buncombe Achieve a Gallant Victory and Elect the Whole Ticket The Ninth District Redeemed. The result in the Ninth Congressional District is glorious. Crawford, leading his ticket almost everywhere, is elected by 800 tOj.1,000 majority. As nearly as can be learned the Crawford majorities are as follows : Haywood 713, Buncombe 580, Jackson 550, Swain 350, Rutherford 153, Chero kee 63, McDowell 58, Transylvania 50. Clay; Graham and Yancey, hitherto Democratic, to hear from. Ewart's majorities are said to be 550 in Madison, 600 (estimated) in Mitchell, 350 in Henderson. BUNCOMBE'S VOTE. The Democrats of Buncombe have good reason to feel elated over the result of Tuesday's election, having elected their whole ticket by a handsome major ity above 500. COULDN'T FRY ENOUGH THIS TIME I FAT A Terrific Democratic Cyclone Swept Across the Country The People Rebuke Republican Misrule and Corruption. Elections were held Tuesday in thirty nine States, and. the Democrats made large gains everywhere. The present returns indicate that they will have sev enty majority in the next House of Rep resentatives. They have elected the Leg islatures of Illinois and New Hampshire, which ensures Democratic successors to Senators Farwell and Blair a gain of two United States Senators: A gain of three or four U. S. Senators is assured to the Democrats by the result in several States. Below is a brief synopsis of the gen eral result in the several States : MASSACHUSETTS. Ruisell, the Democratic candidate for Governor, has been elected by about 10,000 plurality, and the Democrats have also gained several Congressmen. This is a big victory. The election of Lodge, the force bill champion, is in doubt. SEW HAMPSHIRE., The Democrats also gained a big vic tory in New Hampshire, electing their candidate for Governor (Amsden) and also gaining a majority in the Legisla ture. ' MC KIXLEY BEATEN. The defeat of McKinley in Ohio is conceded by 500 votes. Foster, ex-Governor of Ohio, is also beaten by a Demo, crat. CONNECTICUT. The indications are that the Democrats have carried the State and elected their Governor, Morris. ' PENNSYLVANIA. The election of Pattison, Democrat, for Governor, is conceded.
